Eclectic Solutions LLC
Contractor
I incorporated Eclectic Solutions, a single-member LLC, to provide
contract building maintenance and administrative support to Tec^Edge Works in Dayton, Ohio.
An initiative of Wright Brothers Institute, Tec^Edge
Works was formed in June 2008 as a 23,000 ft² collaborative environment
and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory, providing shop space for area
universities, Air Force personnel and defense contractors.
I provided building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing,
carpentry and infrastructure upgrades for new machinery and equipment,
lighting, grounds-keeping and HVAC support, construction of modular
office equipment, a compressed air piping system, computer support and
equipment repair. I performed a lighting energy audit which resulted
in my retrofit of shop lighting ballasts, emergency exit egress maps and
emergency lighting upgrades.
As assistant to the director, I
provided administrative support, including drafts of quarterly reports,
visitor intake, vetting of contractors, design and printing of a visitor
badging system devised to protect sensitive projects in place, staging
support for visiting dignitaries that included generals, a United States
Congressman and a retired astronaut.
As needs evolved, I became lead integrator in a project
that hybridized a gasoline off-road prototype vehicle; designed for national
security and reconnaissance teams, this vehicle became dual mode
gas/electric with battery regeneration and near-silent stealth capabilities.
I specified and installed all wiring for the addition of a high voltage DC
battery, auxiliary electrical systems, control inverter drive and motor. I
designed and installed control circuitry and Human-to-Machine interface, as
well as suspension, exhaust, fuel system and paint modifications. I
provided AutoCad drawings, schematics, blueprints, instruction manuals,
safety procedures and other project and budgetary documentation. I
participated in track and cold-weather off-road vehicle testing and
demonstration in the high desert of New Mexico.
In addition, I
provided staging and event support for educational outreach initiatives of
Tec^Edge Works, including the Mini Urban Challenge (a robotics programming
event for high school teams) and the University of Michigan/Ohio State
University Challenge (an engineering event focused on national security
needs of large-scale public events). I
provided sound and equipment staging, as well as emcee duties for both
events.
I also mentored high-school and college interns, and
reported to the director; his contact information can be found in my résumé.
